general update

ok, things here are interesting. been looking around, found this rather impressive performing fund (http://www.fidelity.com.sg/funds/factsheet/2748.pdf) by Fidelity. Even watching the markets today, see stocks like China Life Insurance (CH) run 5.13%, China Fishery (SP) gained 32% this month and Bloomberg issuing contineous updates on new market highs. Was at Cafe Del Mar yesterday afternoon with Joey, and not surprisingly the Straits Times had quite a write up bout the property growth in China (30% over three years), S Korea (racing to new highs), HK (estimated increases between 8-20% for 2007). Similarly had drinks last night with Werner who noted that the property here in Singapore has moved to the S$2000 psf on the higher end.

all too serious but maybe ill find some time to investigate. had a good weekend and hardly enough sleep. partied with Mas, Redha and Fiona at the newly opened S$3mil Cafe Del Mar. A fun new venue with quite an exclusive location albeit somewhat difficult to get to. Met various characters but found the atmosphere calmed quite early. Interesting Werner was there too for his friend, Nuraliza Osmans (ex Miss Singapore 2002) thirtieth birthday.

saturday was fun, met up with Jamie to watch Apocolypto, an unbelievably long and crap movie! we both agreed that we should have walked out considering the brutality and extreme scenes shot my Mel Gibson. ahh, sigh. Trying to forget about this dismal was of money movie, met up with Nora and Redha; and got to meet some new contacts from Euro-RSCG. Met Mark and Christer, two guys who note they run the show ;) I'm sure to met up for lunch some time this week. turned into a late night and only hit the pillow at around 6am after catching up with Joey n friends, Audry (found this pic of us from 2006, cute =) and Jamie at Attica.

lets see how the rest of the week goes. im thinking KL for the weekend, maybe with Mas. if she is nice to me that is! (considering she might read this, i'll set the expectation :P

john legend

wow, saw John Legend perform on Monday night. got two tickets for Rosalynn n me, and had an amazing evening. the guy is brilliant, years of experience of up-and-down relationships and great insight on how to handle grrls. the concert was held at the esplanade and seated roughtly 1000 ppl. it felt like a private concert or more like an invite only venue, limited seats and no standing, open stage with him seated in the middle behind a grand piano. i must admit that i have new found respect for this man and impromptu musician.

strange dubai

ok, Dubai is unreal, created by money and unfortunately with little creativity. unlike the european culture this place was not created organically. good or bad, i can not say but certainly not nearly as comfortable. perhaps it is the culture or maybe the mass of foreigners.

there is an interesting story which will need some more time to write up. its a recent run in with fate, a missed chance to meet someone and now know that ill know who she was :S anyway.

Rush rush rush

These last weeks have been crazy! Rushing to make my flight, already left my laptop charger behind n now waiting for this Emirates flight to board. Sigh.

New Years was great! Spent the week with luscious Candice, a fabulous couple of days in the Mother City and a fair amount of socializing. There wasnt much time to rest with so many ppl moving in and out all the time. James was hittin on Sarah, she trying her luci with Neil, Brian still workin his endlessly deep Kim, Michelle daydreamin of Mark, and i was fairly cozy w my Candz. Hehe.

We had an extremely long night but i can now claim having seen the entire sun rise and sun set in Cape Town on New Years day. We missioned onto Signal Hill and spent the twilight hours watchin the first rays of 2007.

Got back into the swing of things, had a meeting with Peresys today to discuss FIX and integration points. Been ringing all sorts of screen providers ie Portware, TradingScreen, TraderForce, Quickstream, Metatrader, NinjaTrader, etc to see what they can offer...Some interesting proposals but still surprisingly expensive on a per user basis. I see IdealCFDs has launched under an IG white label, Dealstream brought in a pure FIX front end and the trading landscape is changing.

Im off to Singapore now with the mandate to launch CFDs at CIMB. Indeed i am determined to get this product launched, conclude on a good note and put this on my CV. Not that i believe in CVs at all! Looking forward to seeing Russell, Demise, Rosalynn, Lily, Jeff, Mas, Valerie, Jamie, Audrey....and hopefully even Mina.
