adventuring with grrls

Janine and I agreed to be more adventurous and find different things to do in Joburg. I noted that U.J. had an impressive design that overlooks most of Johannesburg. While not a high as Northcliff Hill, it has a higher elevation as it is build on the raised levels of Melville. Not having been to campus for a number of years, and with some aspiration to make it onto the roof....Janine, Karin and I managed to get on top. It did require some climbing some fence and navigating the soft rooftop insulation... but a lovely day with lovely girls overlooking lovely joburg...priceless =)

kruger with Mullers

James noted that he was heading up to Leopard Creek for the weekend. The event was his fathers birthday, and he kindly extended the invite. The ride there was quick (cause James likes to push his black BMW 330) and we got there friday afternoon. Family and friends were there, and we all settled comfortably on the veranda, kicking back, chilling with drinks and enjoying the natural scenery at the Malelane Gate. It was amazingly relaxing and the sound of the bush was refreshing. The estate is fantastic, boasting a beautifully set out Gary Player golf course, limited to +-45 houses and restricted access. James and I had a big night out on Friday, a jol at the local Duck and Dive...dancing lang-arm with afrikaanse meisies and engaging with locals .. lol. Saturday was high stakes poker, family dinner and time for reading, while Sunday was an enjoyable game drive through the Kruger. From the deck we spotted more than on our 4 hour drive, watching rhino, hippos and buck directly from our armchairs. We took the golf cart for a tour of the course, encountering giraffe on the way and inspected some of the other river frontage houses. Fabulous.

New Year 2007

Yay, had a fun and enjoyable New Years celebration. First a few drinks with my sis and then a lovely baked prawn dinner at my place. Nearly took my finger off preparing the onion-garlic-parsley marinade but managed to avoid spoiling the food =) Tasted absolutely deliscious with some Nederburg and Uitkyk Blanc, and champaign to follow as we celebrated on the roof.
